Thaco plans to export more than 1,200 Kia cars of different kinds to ASEAN markets in 2020, including more than 600 to Myanmar. The automaker looks to shipments of other Kia cars such as Sedona and Seltos to the country, where its Kia Cerato and Soluto are available.

Promoting exports to Myanmar is among Thaco’s targets in becoming a production center and exporter of Kia vehicles and parts in ASEAN.

Super Seven Stars Motors Industry (SSS) is the current Kia distributor in Myanmar, and its on-the-market models are limited in kinds and prices are still high because the vehicles are from South Korea.

Through Korea’s Kia Motors and SSS, Thaco has launched its project for selling its Kia cars to Myanmar. Thanks to its diverse line-up of products with global Kia quality standards and more reasonable prices, Thaco-made Kia cars have successfully bolstered their presence in Myanmar.

Thaco’s first shipment to Myanmar were 120 Kia Cerato cars at the end of 2019, followed by another 80 in May 2020. All have received positive feedback.

In August 2020 the Vietnamese automaker sent out its 80 Kia Soluto cars - one of the new best-selling models in Vietnam to Myanmar.

The B-class sedan owns a smart design, is powered by new fuel-saving Kappa engine 1.4L, and available with 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual transmission.

Especially, Soluto was picked as the first Kia model in Vietnam to have Kia Link smart connectivity. Kia Link mobile app has been developed in line with Kia’s digital transformation plan, offering car warning and support during use.

Since its launch in Vietnam in September 2019, Soluto has made to among the top 10 best-selling cars in the market with 8,540 cars sold by the end of July 2020.

Thaco is also exporting 45-feet semi-trailers to Myanmar in November 2020. Earlier this August, the company shipped 80 Kia Grand Carnival cars to Thailand.
