THACO AUTO Complex: Effective application of Kaizen to create new growth momentum

Continuous improvement is an indispensable requirement to improve productivity, product quality and competitiveness. To boost its production efficiency and create a new growth engine, THACO AUTO Complex has been widely applying the Kaizen methodology in seeking to promote creativity and innovations across all stages of its production.

Effective application of the Kaizen approach

Facing current challenges in the automobile market, with a determination to embrace changes, the THACO AUTO Complex has been actively developing different strategies to preserve stable production and business activities, in which innovation is the core. The Kaizen approach is maintained and promoted throughout the production lines, workshops, and plants.

Following the motto "One valuable idea can count", from production realities and their technical expertise, logical and systematic thinking, all employees constantly study to identify inadequacies in their production process, thereby offer improvement solutions in terms of machines, technology and even small changes in the arrangement of tools, materials and more.

In 2022, the companies and factories under THACO AUTO Complex have carried out more than 800 improvement projects to eliminate waste which have been saving more than VND600 billion compared to the equipment purchasing plans. There were several standing out teams, namely Thaco Mazda Plant with the project to improve the drying chain step in the paint room which saved VND1.6 billion in energy costs and nearly VND14 billion VND in investment and installation costs in 2022. One other excellent example is the Thaco Truck Plant with the project to design a SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system to manage the quality of the entire production chain to improve the automated and digitized management of the production lines. Carrying on such spirit, during the first 3 months of 2023, more than 300 projects have been implemented to help save time and costs, optimize the production process, and improve productivity and product quality.

In the coming time, the companies and factories there will continue their Kaizen methodology to focus on improving, researching and designing new equipment, applying new technologies, step by step increase the automation and digital transformation in production and management towards "smart manufacturing".

Uplifting the spirit of innovation and creativity

Improvements are continuous, long-term, small ones will turn into big gains. To achieve high-quality products, high productivity, low costs and so on, continuous improvement is required. At THACO AUTO Complex, the management regularly clarifies the importance of innovation, creativity, waste elimination in production, as well as creates conditions for employees to empower their thinking capacity, gradually forming an improvement culture which upholds team creativity and the dedication to the company development.

To meet the increasing requirements of automation in production and business, the Complex is trying its best to innovate its technologies and production processes. In doing so, each employee must pay efforts in learning to improve their professionalism, update new technology trends, come up with effective innovation ideas, contribute to improve production efficiency, meet THACO AUTO's development strategy in the new period.
